Giro di Montelbano & Talents

Written by Canadian Nippon at 02:09 22/5-2022

Why oh why do we always do this to ourselves? Only a few weeks ago we released a press release talking about some of our talents and our hopes for development only to have within hours of posting to the have the rider mentioned max; much lower then possible.

Yes, Elroy Speed is now maxed while he gained more in TQ then we expected when we posted his update last week; we also expected him to continue training this SP a bit more then the exact 1pts that he trained within hours of the last post.

While re-reading the last post we were very aware that he was close to maxing as we stated; "Elory Speed training continues but will not be long before he is completely maxed" also mentioning that we hoped that we didn`t jinx the training process; which if we knew he was close does that still mean it was a jinx? Either way having a rider that had average SP ability and not complete anything but a single points means we are somehow left with a disappoint sour taste in our mouth, in a situation were we should be looking t the brighter side of the riders training. While he ton of training points on the table meaning he is now very limited rider as he will only be useful as an TT specialist rather then a prologue, LO#1 and/or Hill TT specialist due to the earlier max. And no we are no longer tracking overall trained points so he may not actually be an early maxer but rather maxed earlier then we like. (I can check Chili-bot I guess if I want the answer)(If I remember how!!) Either way we were also wrong in the fact that he will finish at 215TT rather then the 212TT that we stated in the last post once he has been TT centered. He will be a very serviceable TT rider. Also to note he reached the age 23 at the same that he maxed meaning is also no longer eligible to U23 races.

  Giro Di Montelbano
As stated we headed into our first tour of the season expecting to have a top ten placement in the Giro Di Montelbano with Conan Guillot being given the lead. The first stage went very much as expected with Guillot being the best place rider on the team in a respectable 24th overall meaning he was going to be in striking distance of the lead heading into the TT stage. He wouldn`t disappoint by placing a very respectable second on the stage and move himself into the top four heading into the final stage where he should make up more time on two of the three riders in Danny De Smedt, Spliff cycling and Clément Bigaruka, Team Arctic with Adriano Nyussi, Nikoline all but secured in taking the jersey home with 34secs head of the next closest rider. Guillot would rider a respectable final stage but place out side the top 10 on the stage and not collect any time bonuses. This meant the final four placement would change during the final stage and Guillot finished a respectable 4th in the tour.

"It was good to see that we had a goal and we were able to actually reach that goal during the tour. We aimed for a top ten heading into the tour and to come out with a top five is more then we could have really asked for." commented the team manager when asked about the tour. "In the end we lost the tour due to not having Guillot in top form of the race but we can always look forward to coming back and making sure we are ready next time. We now switch focus to getting Irving Watts and the team ready of the Tour of Norway; which we hope we can get signed up for this year. In the end it was a good start to our tour season and I am proud of the riders." added the manager.

It also looks like we will spend most if not all the season in division 3 meaning we can loosely plan when we want to trigger our top form for each rider. This means we will look at aiming for the Sprinter Jersey during the Tour of Norway, if we can sign-up. Likely meaning we will send Irving Watts to the lead of the train during the Major tour.

We will also then focus on the Perm Tour, which should have Conan Guillot well placed once again in either the Sprinter Jersey or General Classification with the only concern being the mountain stage.

And last we will likely give Ensio Jarvinen the lead during the Kangaroo tour but might need a bit more of a boost if he is going to have a chance during the tour in the way of TT training. This might be a case where we switch back and forth between the riders rather then have a single captain during the tour as we have more ability to win stages rather then placement in the tour?

Looking at the two remaining tours Volta da Lagoa dos Patos is a cobble tour and in the past we gave the lead to Guillot but this isn`t a tour that we have any chance either at stage victories or overall so we might continue to skip this tour like we have since 17th edition when we last rode to a top 20 with Guillot.

Cape Town Round Tour is a hill tour and since we sold Bitao we don`t have a hiller that could actually factor in this tour unless we send Roland Kilgore the Hill TT specialist to the lead but he won`t have much help from the team so will relay on the coats of the other teams if he was going to score any results from the tour so this might be another situation we just decided to skip the tour.

Also we are more hopeful that we won`t be in the division by this stage of the season either as we should be scoring points throughout the season and should be at least in division 2;maybe even division 1 lining up for the World Championships with our TT team being much better then in the past.

Okay we are getting too far ahead of ourselves here as we still need to focus on siging up for the next tour let alone the future tours.

Yes, I have very high standards with TT riders since I have been very lucky to land some very good ones with Frint 240, Guillot 224, Wel 218, Speed 215 and Berton 213 as my straight TT team then add my TT Climber in Kilgore 228. This is of course if I can finish all the training with TT center as Wel, Speed and Berton all still require the center.

Silenzio at 08:50 31/5-2022
  Nice plans.

Go to chat. If chilibot is there "Cb tp 1233105" if you want to know :) trainingpoints before first race arent available though.

Frint and Guillot are exceptional so you might have very high standards wrt maxing tt-ers!
